Deck overview

Aragorn, Hornburg Hero leads a Naya renowned-combat midrange deck: every attacker gains first strike and renown 1, and every renowned hit doubles its +1/+1 counters. Cheap deathtouch creatures make attacks safe-first-strike deathtouch shreds blockers-while counter amplifiers like Hardened Scales, Ozolith, the Shattered Spire, and Conclave Mentor turn the growth exponential. Double-strike lords such as Blade Historian, Raphael, the Nightwatcher, and Kwende, Pride of Femeref double the counter triggers per combat, and Shalai and Hallar converts each counter event into direct damage, acting as the deck's hidden finisher. Draw engines like Beast Whisperer, Ohran Frostfang, Toski, Bearer of Secrets, and Garruk's Uprising keep the board full, while Marisi, Breaker of the Coil makes combat uninteractable and goads opponents. The deck has no infinite combos; it wins through overwhelming combat damage and incremental counter-burn, with Teferi's Protection and Inspiring Call as wipe insurance.
