Deck overview

This deck is an aggressive Izzet combat deck commanded by Karlach, Fury of Avernus paired with Sword Coast Sailor. The strategy focuses on accelerating Karlach into play ahead of curve using fast mana artifacts and red rituals. Once deployed, Sword Coast Sailor grants Karlach unblockable attacks against whichever opponent has the highest life total, while Karlach untaps attacking creatures and grants an additional combat phase each turn. This allows the deck to deal 10 unblockable commander damage per turn to the table leader. The deck scales this pressure into full-table lethality through damage multipliers like Kediss, Emberclaw Familiar, chained combat phases via spells like Relentless Assault and Seize the Day, and extra-turn spells. A robust blue counterspell suite, including free spells like Fierce Guardianship and Force of Will, protects the combat engine from opposing disruption, while alternate win conditions such as Godo, Bandit Warlord with Helm of the Host provide resilience.
