Format: Commander

Commander: Ozai, the Phoenix King

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

This black-red deck is a mana-battery combo deck built around Ozai, the Phoenix King as both primary engine and finisher. His haste and firebending 4 create red mana on the first attack, while his replacement effect banks unspent mana through phases and makes him flying/indestructible when six red is kept. The main line is to accelerate with rituals and rocks, cast Ozai ahead of curve, then chain extra-combat effects with Aggravated Assault, Seize the Day, or Hellkite Charger, multiplying firebending mana each combat. Backup engines Avatar Roku and Electro, Assaulting Battery mimic his mana retention and let the deck pivot if Ozai is removed. Closers are Kediss-spread commander damage, a pumped Chandra's Ignition, or Crackle with Power.
