Deck overview

This deck executes a Golgari Spider tribal strategy led by Shelob, Child of Ungoliant. The early game focuses on deploying mana ramp and low-cost Spiders to build a resilient defensive perimeter. Once Shelob enters on Turn 5, all Spiders gain deathtouch and ward {2}, discouraging opposing attacks and turning every block into a lethal trade that steals opposing creatures as Food artifacts. The deck transitions into an offensive threat around Turn 7 by leveraging overrun effects like Preposterous Proportions, poison pressure from Fynn, the Fangbearer, or tribal direct damage via Ishkanah, Grafwidow and Rotwidow Pack. Strong recursion options like Patriarch's Bidding and Spider Spawning provide dependable recovery against creature destruction. While the deck dominates creature-based combat, it relies on natural draws for its payoffs and remains vulnerable to exile sweepers and fast spell-based combo strategies.
