Deck overview

This Golgari deck is led by Hazel of the Rootbloom, focusing on generating massive swarms of Squirrel, Food, and creature tokens. Hazel provides two crucial engine functions: generating explosive bursts of mana by tapping tokens, and duplicating tokens at each end step. The deck ramps during the early turns with efficient mana dorks and rocks, establishes Hazel on turn 4, and rapidly snowballs its board presence. Victory is achieved through two complementary vectors: overwhelming combat damage powered by Beastmaster Ascension, Craterhoof Behemoth, or The Odd Acorn Gang, and lethal life drain through aristocrat engines such as Mirkwood Bats, Bastion of Remembrance, and Nadier's Nightblade. Card velocity is fueled by token-sacrifice engines like Skullclamp, Plumb the Forbidden, and Toski, Bearer of Secrets. While vulnerable to mass exile sweepers and lacking countermagic, the deck possesses resilient redundancy and fast recovery.
