Deck overview

This Bant midrange deck is commanded by Kros, Defense Contractor and focuses on weaponising counter placement to manipulate multiplayer combat. By distributing shield, +1/+1, -1/-1, and stun counters onto opposing creatures, Kros systematically taps down blockers and goads threats, granting them trample to accelerate damage among opponents. Meanwhile, internal proliferate engines like Evolution Sage, Ezuri, Stalker of Spheres, and Thrummingbird compound these counters while advancing your own board via Brokers Ascendancy and Iridescent Hornbeetle. Alternate win conditions like Simic Ascendancy and infect creatures offer secondary avenues to close out stalled games. The deck excels at redirecting opposing aggression while generating steady card flow through combat-focused draw engines like Verity Circle and Tamiyo, Field Researcher. However, its reliance on tap-lands, absence of dedicated tutors, and vulnerability to board sweepers require careful sequencing and defensive timing to maintain board control into the late game.
