Commander: The Ninth Doctor and Clara Oswald

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

This deck is a Jeskai (U/R/W) value-engine build helmed by the partner pair The Ninth Doctor and Clara Oswald, with the explicit goal of maximizing upkeep steps to supercharge a dense suite of upkeep-triggered permanents. The Ninth Doctor's haste and untap-trigger give an additional upkeep after each normal upkeep, while Clara Oswald makes every Doctor trigger (including The Ninth Doctor's) trigger an additional time, effectively doubling the number of extra upkeeps. The deck then layers on additional beginning-phase effects via Paradox Haze, Sphinx of the Second Sun, and Shadow of the Second Sun to create a cascading chain of upkeeps. The payoff comes from classic upkeep engines like the **Court** cycle, Assemble the Legion, Extravagant Replication, Mirror-Sigil Sergeant, and Azor's Elocutors. It can win through massive token armies, direct damage, or alternate conditions such as Mechanized Production or a filibuster victory. Suspended cards also tick down faster under extra upkeeps, providing additional value.
