Deck overview

This deck is a Grixis aristocrats and theft engine helmed by Marchesa, the Black Rose. The core strategy leverages temporary control spells such as Act of Treason, Mark of Mutiny, and Mass Mutiny in tandem with free sacrifice outlets like Viscera Seer, Carrion Feeder, and Goblin Bombardment. When stolen creatures attack the player with the highest life total, dethrone places a +1/+1 counter on them. Sacrificing those creatures before end of turn triggers Marchesa's recursion ability, returning them permanently under your control on the end step. Additional +1/+1 counter enablers like Unspeakable Symbol and Gev, Scaled Scorch protect your own board from removal, while payoffs like Flayer of the Hatebound, Herald of Secret Streams, and Insurrection convert board superiority into a decisive combat or direct-damage victory.
