Watch Me Whip Playtest Ramp by m1abrams

Format: Commander

Commander: Whiplash, Vengeful Engineer

Bracket: 3

DeckCheck Threat Index: 48

Deck overview

This mono-black deck leverages Whiplash, Vengeful Engineer as a low-cost Voltron commander that converts Equipment density into asymmetric life drain. Whiplash enters on Turn 1 and quickly attaches low-cost Equipment such as Shadowspear, Cranial Plating, and Bloodforged Battle-Axe. As Whiplash attacks, his trigger drains each opponent for life equal to the number of attached Equipment while gaining life to fuel black resource engines like The One Ring, Black Market Connections, and Hatred. High-impact amplifiers like Bloodletter of Aclazotz and Genji Glove rapidly accelerate the clock, allowing the deck to eliminate players through massive commander damage while whittling down the rest of the table simultaneously. Fast mana engines including Mishra's Workshop, Lake of the Dead, and Cabal Coffers power out high-cost threats ahead of curve, while the compact Bloodchief Ascension plus Mindcrank combo provides an alternate instant table kill.
