Deck overview

This Abzan deck is commanded by Doran, Besieged by Time, focusing on a toughness-matters combat strategy. Doran provides two key engine effects: a {1} mana cost reduction on all creature spells with toughness greater than power, and an attack or block trigger that grants creatures +X/+X equal to the difference between their toughness and power. The early game focuses on deploying low-cost, high-toughness creatures and mana dorks like Leafkin Druid, Great Forest Druid, and Indomitable Ancients. Once Doran enters on Turn 3 or 4, these defensive bodies transform into offensive powerhouses, swinging for massive combat damage starting on Turn 5. Asymmetric sweepers such as Slaughter the Strong and Tip the Scales clear opposing boards without damaging your high-toughness army. Backed by life-drain and buff engines like Betor, Kin to All, Baldin, Century Herdmaster, and Unnatural Growth, the deck closes out games through overwhelming combat pressure across multiple turns.
