Deck overview

This deck is a resilient Grixis Aristocrats build commanded by Marchesa, the Black Rose. Its game plan revolves around exploiting Marchesa's delayed trigger: any creature you control that dies with a +1/+1 counter on it returns to the battlefield at the beginning of the next end step. By combining free sacrifice outlets like Viscera Seer and Carrion Feeder with modular counters, dethrone attacks, and ETB value creatures like Baleful Strix, the deck creates an engine that operates on every player's turn. Threat onset manifests around Turn 5-6 through asymmetric edicts (Grave Pact, Dictate of Erebos) or high-volume burn engines (Flayer of the Hatebound, Marionette Apprentice). While highly resistant to destroy-based board wipes, it relies heavily on graveyard interactions and maintaining life totals below the highest opponent to trigger dethrone effectively.
