Great Balls of Fire by jblumka

Format: Commander

Commander: Grumgully, the Generous

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Grumgully, the Generous is a single-faced commander with no hidden commander. The deck is built as a Gruul Elemental beatdown list: cheap hasty Elementals such as Ball Lightning, Groundbreaker, Spark Elemental, and Arc Runner enter with an extra +1/+1 counter, swing for big chunks, then die at end step. Those mandatory sacrifices are converted into card advantage with Greater Good, Life's Legacy, and Kazuul's Fury, or into recursion with Thunderkin Awakener, Feldon of the Third Path, and Bala Ged Recovery. Secondary paths include direct-damage finishers like Chandra's Ignition and Champion of the Path triggers, plus extra-combat swings from Savage Beating or Great Train Heist. Grumgully's role is a universal anthem for every non-Human; without him the deck still functions but loses about a turn of speed.
