Deck overview

This Bant deck is helmed by Arcades, the Strategist, turning inexpensive, high-toughness defender creatures into efficient beaters and repeatable draw engines. The early game focuses on developing mana through 2-drop ramp and cheap walls like Wall of Omens and Overgrown Battlement. Once Arcades enters on Turn 3 or 4, every subsequent defender replaces itself while contributing massive combat stats, transforming defensive cards like Wall of Denial and The Pride of Hull Clade into lethal attackers. The deck leverages asymmetric board wipes like Slaughter the Strong and Wave of Reckoning to decimate opposing creatures without touching its own low-power ranks. Protection spells like Heroic Intervention and Ghostway shield the board against enemy sweepers, while a backup infinite mana package with Axebane Guardian and Freed from the Real provides an alternate avenue to burn out the table with Walking Ballista.
