Deck overview

Ayara, First of Locthwain commands a mono-black aristocrats and devotion deck designed to drain the entire table through relentless creature death and entry triggers. The deck accelerates using mono-black staples like Dark Ritual, Cabal Coffers, and Phyrexian Tower to establish Ayara alongside recurring token generators such as Bitterblossom, Jadar, Ghoulcaller of Nephalia, and Ophiomancer. Once the engine is operational, it generates substantial card advantage with Skullclamp, Braids, Arisen Nightmare, and Yawgmoth, Thran Physician, while proactively locking opposing creature boards via Grave Pact and Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet. The deck transitions into a lethal clock around Turn 5 by deploying decisive payoffs like Tombstone Stairwell, Bolas's Citadel, Bloodletter of Aclazotz, or explosive Gray Merchant of Asphodel reanimation loops. While vulnerable to artifact-based stax and lacking counterspells, its dense graveyard recursion and interchangeable drain pieces provide strong resiliency and steady inevitability.
