Deck overview

This Esper Sphinx tribal deck leverages its custom commander, The Ur-Sphinx, to discount heavy flying creatures from the command zone and generate massive value upon attacking. The game plan focuses on deploying early artifact ramp and cost reducers to cast mid-sized Sphinxes by turn 4 or 5. Engines like Unesh, Criosphinx Sovereign quickly fill the hand and graveyard, providing the velocity required to field game-ending threats such as Magister Sphinx, Sphinx Sovereign, and Sphinx of the Steel Wind. Once the commander enters the battlefield, attacking with flying Sphinxes mills each opponent and casts their best spells for free. Combat damage combined with direct life loss effects closes out games by turn 8. The deck features resilient threats with built-in ward, shroud, and hexproof, supported by targeted countermagic and versatile removal spells.
