Deck overview

This deck is a five-color spellslinger engine that pairs Codie, Ravenous Codex with creatures featuring the prepare mechanic to copy high-impact spells and trigger Magecraft payoffs. In the early turns, efficient ramp and shocklands establish mana fixing while deploying cheap prepare creatures. On Turn 4, deploying Codie alongside an engine piece such as Archmage Emeritus or Storm-Kiln Artist begins compounding resource advantage. On Turn 5, paying Codie's five-color activation cost prepares the entire battlefield at once, unleashing a storm sequence of doubled spells that draws cards, produces Treasure tokens, and drains opponents via Witherbloom Apprentice. The resulting board state generates lethal life loss or an overwhelming army of Fractal and Pest tokens to close the game on Turn 6, shielded by elite interaction like Fierce Guardianship and Teferi's Protection.
