NM Tempest

Format: Commander

Commander: Niv-Mizzet, Parun

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This deck is a highly focused Izzet spellslinger-combo deck built around Niv-Mizzet, Parun. The primary game plan is to deploy Niv-Mizzet and attach a "Curiosity" effect (Curiosity or Ophidian Eye), then fire off a cheap instant or sorcery to draw a card, triggering an infinite damage loop that kills the entire table. The deck is packed with cheap cantrips, card selection, and a handful of tutors to assemble the combo quickly, while counterspells and instant-speed removal buy time and protect the winning turn. Secondary value comes from incremental draw-pingers like Psychosis Crawler, Glint-Horn Buccaneer, and The Locust God's token swarm, but the deck is built firmly around the Niv-curiosity engine. The commander's protection-uncounterability and a high toughness-makes the combo resilient to stack-based disruption, but the deck is heavily dependent on Niv-Mizzet staying on the battlefield.
