Deck overview

This mono-black control deck combines Demon tribal synergies, asymmetric sacrifice stax, and explosive big-mana finishes. Helmed by Valgavoth, Terror Eater, the deck uses land-based mana engines like Cabal Coffers and Cabal Stronghold alongside artifact doublers to cast its 9-mana commander ahead of schedule. Once on the battlefield, Valgavoth exiles opposing graveyards and allows you to cast opponents' cards by paying life, protected by a brutal Ward cost of sacrificing three nonland permanents. The deck controls the board using sweepers like Toxic Deluge and Damnation, paired with attrition pieces like Grave Pact and Archfiend of Depravity. It closes games through massive Torment of Hailfire or Exsanguinate spells, Demon combat damage, or the two-card infinite mill combo of Bloodchief Ascension and Mindcrank. Its primary vulnerabilities are a lack of noncreature permanent removal and minimal protection against countermagic.
