Deck overview

This deck is a high-velocity Golgari midrange stompy engine helmed by The Gitrog, Ravenous Ride. The core strategy exploits severely undercosted creatures with massive power and negligible combat drawbacks—such as Rotting Regisaur, Hunted Horror, and Phyrexian Soulgorger—as saddle fuel for Gitrog. When Gitrog connects on turn 4, it sacrifices the saddled creature to draw an enormous burst of cards and drop multiple lands into play untapped or tapped. The sudden resource disparity allows the deck to immediately untap on turn 5 with double-digit mana and a loaded hand. From there, it transitions cleanly into lethal combat finishes via Finale of Devastation, The Skullspore Nexus, or Unnatural Growth, overwhelming all opponents across turns 5 and 6. The deck features exceptional card draw velocity and redundant beaters, balanced by an inherent reliance on connecting in combat and defending its commander.
