Deck overview

Plagon, Lord of the Beach leads an Azorius toughness-matters deck that turns high-toughness defenders into offensive threats while generating massive card advantage. The deck floods the board early with low-cost creatures like Aegis Turtle, Caelorna, Coral Tyrant, and Charix, the Raging Isle. When Plagon enters the battlefield on Turn 4, it immediately refills the hand by drawing a card for each creature whose toughness exceeds its power. Blink effects such as Blur, Flicker of Fate, and Golden Argosy re-trigger Plagon's draw ability, ensuring the hand stays stocked with answers and threats. In combat, Plagon's activated ability or High Alert enables creatures to assign combat damage equal to their toughness, while unblockable enablers like Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive bypass opposing defenses. Although the deck lacks infinite combos and requires multiple combat steps to close the game, its immense toughness stonewalls aggressive decks and outlasts opponents in grindy midgames.
