Deck overview

This deck pairs Karlach, Fury of Avernus with Sword Coast Sailor to create a fast, resilient Voltron stax strategy. It leverages format-staple fast mana to establish early board control through Blood Moon, Back to Basics, and Winter Orb. These lock pieces heavily restrict multi-color opponents while leaving the deck's basic-heavy mana base intact. Karlach provides an automatic second combat step each turn, and Sword Coast Sailor makes her unblockable against the player with the highest life total. Damage amplifiers such as Jeska, Thrice Reborn, Two-Handed Axe // Sweeping Cleave, and Kediss, Emberclaw Familiar accelerate the clock, often taking out opponents in single combat steps. A dense suite of free counterspells and redirection effects like Deflecting Swat and Fierce Guardianship protects Karlach while shutting down opposing combo attempts.
