Commander: Toph, Greatest Earthbender

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a Gruul "earthbend" lands-matter deck built around animating its own lands into hasted, counter-stacked creatures and doubling their damage with Toph, Greatest Earthbender's static double strike. Toph's enter-the-battlefield earthbend scales with the mana spent to cast her, so commander tax is an upside - a second Toph at six mana immediately raises a 6/6 land. The deck leans on nearly twenty non-commander earthbend effects to grow a land-creature army, reinforced by +1/+1 counter synergies (Solid Ground, Bumi, Eclectic Earthbender, The Boulder, Ready to Rumble, The Ozolith, Evolution Sage), then closes with one of three extra-combat cards: Moraug, Fury of Akoum chaining main-phase landfall, Bumi, Unleashed's damage trigger, or Great Train Heist. The Legend of Kyoshi // Avatar Kyoshi provides a "hidden commander" back face that gives lands hexproof and trample while producing huge mana, and an Inkmoth Nexus poison line lurks as an alternate kill.
