Deep Exploring by Maieita

Format: Commander

Commander: Hakbal of the Surging Soul

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Hakbal of the Surging Soul leads a Simic Merfolk typal deck centered on +1/+1 counter synergy, aggressive explore triggers, and unblockable combat damage. The primary game plan curves out efficient Merfolk before casting Hakbal to explore across the entire board at combat, filtering draws, ramping lands, and rapidly inflating creature stats. Counter amplifiers like Branching Evolution and Doubling Season accelerate board growth, while evasion enablers like Herald of Secret Streams, Lord of Atlantis, and Deepchannel Mentor bypass blockers entirely. An alternate win line exists through Simic Ascendancy, while robust countermagic protects your wide, high-power board from opposing sweepers.
