Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov midrange strategy that blends token swarms, aristocrat drain, and blink mechanics around Syr Vondam, Sunstar Exemplar. The game plan establishes early token creators such as Adeline, Resplendent Cathar and Jadar, Ghoulcaller of Nephalia, fueling Syr Vondam with +1/+1 counters and life whenever creatures die or enter exile. It converts board presence into heavy pressure through mass-buff enchantments like Kinbinding and drain effects like Elas il-Kor, Sadistic Pilgrim and Zulaport Cutthroat. The deck controls opposing battlefields using high-efficiency exile removal such as Swords to Plowshares and Parting Gust, while Sothera, the Supervoid and Martyr's Bond turn disposable token deaths into asymmetric board wipes. Protection spells like Semester's End and Duty Beyond Death shield critical permanents from opposing interaction, allowing the deck to close games reliably around Turn 8 through combined combat and non-combat life loss.
