Deck overview

This Golgari deck pairs lifegain triggers with typal swarm payoffs to overwhelm opponents in combat. Led by Blech, Loafing Pest, the deck converts routine lifegain events into permanent +1/+1 counters across Pests, Bats, Insects, Snakes, and Spiders. Early turns deploy cheap lifegain creatures like Essence Warden alongside ramp spells to cast Blech on Turn 3. Midgame turns generate Pest tokens through spells like Pest Summoning and Tend the Pests, rapidly growing the board through repeated lifegain triggers from creatures and lands. The deck reaches a critical state on Turn 6 by resolving mass combat finishers such as Blossoming Bogbeast, Triumph of the Hordes, or Zopandrel, Hunger Dominus, dealing lethal trample or infect damage to multiple opponents before cleaning up the table on Turn 7. Secondary drain engines like Defiling Daemogoth and Cauldron of Essence provide reach against stalled boards, while targeted removal keeps opposing threats in check.
