Sephiroth [Bracket 3] What I learned so far in !PRIMER! by Pcalvillo91

Format: Commander

Commander: Sephiroth, Fabled SOLDIER // Sephiroth, One-Winged Angel

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This mono-black deck pilots a classic aristocrats/sacrifice strategy under Sephiroth, Fabled SOLDIER. The primary game plan is to generate a stream of tokens and small creatures, sacrifice them for value through outlets like Phyrexian Altar and Yawgmoth, Thran Physician, and drain opponents incrementally via Bastion of Remembrance, Ayara, First of Locthwain, and the commander's transformation into Sephiroth, One-Winged Angel, which grants a persistent drain emblem. The deck leans heavily on recursion (Reassembling Skeleton, Nether Traitor, Bloodghast) to maintain board presence and can finish with a massive Torment of Hailfire or a high-devotion Gray Merchant of Asphodel. It lacks compact infinite combos but grinds out value through repeated death triggers, making it a resilient, slow-burn attrition machine that excels in longer, multiplayer games.
