Deck overview

This deck is a Mono-Black Aristocrats and Reanimator strategy commanded by Avacyn, Angel of Horror. It accelerates mana early using rituals, utility creatures, and big-mana lands like Cabal Coffers and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx. By Turn 4, it establishes a functional engine combining sacrifice outlets with resilient fodder. On Turn 5, it transitions into oppressive asymmetric attrition using Grave Pact, Dictate of Erebos, and recurring edict creatures like Accursed Marauder to keep opposing boards clear. The deck finishes on Turn 7 by draining the table with Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat, and Gray Merchant of Asphodel, backed by lethal aerial damage from Avacyn and Archon of Cruelty. Because the deck relies on deep redundancy and low-cost reanimation, it operates smoothly even if the commander never hits the battlefield.
