Commander: Meren of Clan Nel Toth

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Meren of Clan Nel Toth is a Golgari sacrifice/reanimator deck. Its primary plan is to sacrifice cheap creatures for value while Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat, and Bastion of Remembrance drain opponents; Meren returns the best creature each end step, creating an engine. The main kill is an infinite loop: Mikaeus, the Unhallowed plus Triskelion with a sacrifice outlet, or Gravecrawler plus Phyrexian Altar plus a drain effect. Reanimation spells and tutors (Buried Alive, Entomb, Finale of Devastation) fetch the pieces. Craterhoof Behemoth and Jarad provide a backup beatdown/drain line. There is no hidden commander; Meren is the recursion engine, while Yawgmoth, Thran Physician is a strong secondary engine.
