Deck overview

This mono-black deck is led by Syr Konrad, the Grim and blends aristocrat sacrifice strategies with symmetric mill and attrition stax. The game plan focuses on deploying early recursive creatures like Bloodghast and Gravecrawler, establishing sacrifice outlets such as Warren Soultrader and Altar of Dementia, and utilizing Syr Konrad, the Grim to convert every zone transition into table-wide damage. Midgame ramp pieces like Crypt Ghast and Cabal Coffers fuel repeated Konrad activations and large spells. Opposing strategies are suppressed using asymmetric sacrifice engines like Grave Pact, Braids, Arisen Nightmare, and Smokestack. The deck can win through grindy attrition drain or assemble instant-kill loops such as Bloodthirsty Conqueror combined with Marauding Blight-Priest or Bloodchief Ascension paired with Mindcrank. Its primary vulnerabilities are a lack of stack interaction, minimal protection for its commander, and difficulty answering resolved non-creature permanents.
