Deck overview

This deck is a dedicated Mono-Red Group Slug and Land Denial build led by Zo-Zu the Punisher. The strategy accelerates into early symmetrical damage triggers and oppressive mana-choking permanents. By combining Zo-Zu the Punisher and Ankh of Mishra with tax effects like Manabarbs and Spellshock, every basic game action drains opposing life totals. The deck breaks parity on aggressive nonbasic land hate and mass destruction—including Blood Moon, Ruination, and Keldon Firebombers—by running 24 basic snow Mountains alongside recursion like Crucible of Worlds. Damage multipliers such as Furnace of Rath and Fiery Emancipation rapidly accelerate the clock, turning routine land drops into lethal bursts. Defensively, the pilot leverages damage prevention engines like Glacial Crevasses, Sunstone, and Glacial Chasm to survive self-inflicted burn. The deck steadily grinds out all three opponents by Turn 7 through unavoidable attrition and resource starvation.
