Marneus Calgar - the 3rd by bamauti323

Format: Commander

Commander: Marneus Calgar

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Marneus Calgar is an Esper token-draw engine: every token that enters the battlefield draws a card, and his Chapter Master activation creates the fuel for that engine. The deck splinters into two intertwined plans: generate a critical mass of tokens with Anointed Procession, Elspeth, Storm Slayer, Ocelot Pride, and Tivit, Seller of Secrets to bury opponents in card advantage and drain effects, or collapse that token mass into an infinite mana/loop machine with Ashnod's Altar and Pitiless Plunderer, feeding finishers like Marionette Apprentice, Psychosis Crawler, and Torment of Hailfire. Jace, Wielder of Mysteries is a library-empty backup. The deck is a midrange combo/control hybrid: it can pivot from a grindy value game into a compact same-turn kill once Marneus is protected and a loop is online.
