Sauron Amass

Format: Commander

Commander: Sauron, the Dark Lord

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This Grixis deck builds a massive Army through amass triggers, then finishes with unblockable or trampling attacks and direct damage. Sauron, the Dark Lord provides repeated card advantage by tempting the Ring whenever an Army hits, while a swarm of amass enablers grows the token. Secondary paths use Saruman, the White Hand and Bothersome Noisemaker to grow the Army on noncreature spells, and burn with All Will Be One or The Great Goblin. The commander is the primary draw engine; the deck needs him to keep card flow. Hidden commander is Saruman, the White Hand, as he doubles amass from the many sorceries and instants. The deck has three combo-ish finishers: Assault on Osgiliath with an unblockable Army, Chandra's Ignition on a huge creature, and Soul's Fire/Rite of Consumption direct damage.
