Deck overview

This Izzet deck is a precision-engineered pinger machine helmed by Ghyrson Starn, Kelermorph. The core strategy is to flood the board with cheap sources of exactly 1 damage-pingers like Thermo-Alchemist, Electrostatic Field, and Firebrand Archer, plus a dense suite of 1-damage instants and sorceries-and then let Ghyrson turn that single point into 2 damage to any target, effectively tripling the reach of every ping. The deck can win through incremental table burn, a storm-finish with Grapeshot, or the classic infinite-draw-and-damage combo of Niv-Mizzet, Parun plus a Curiosity effect. The low curve (2.10 average MV) and abundant cantrips keep the hand full while the commander's ward {2} makes it surprisingly resilient to spot removal. The deck plays a tempo-control game, answering threats with cheap interaction while building toward a critical mass of triggers that either overwhelm opponents or assemble a compact combo.
