Deck overview

This Golgari deck is helmed by Hazel of the Rootbloom, focusing on generating an overwhelming swarm of Squirrel, Food, and artifact tokens. Early turns focus on establishing incidental token makers such as Gilded Goose, Vinereap Mentor, and Prosperous Innkeeper to provide targets for Hazel's end-step duplication trigger. Once assembled on Turn 4, Hazel acts as both a creature multiplier and a massive mana accelerator, tapping untapped tokens to power out expensive threats ahead of curve. The deck transitions into a lethal threat around Turn 6, utilizing massive pump spells like Beastmaster Ascension and End-Raze Forerunners, or converting wide boards into life loss via aristocrats such as Bastion of Remembrance, Zulaport Cutthroat, and Nadier's Nightblade. While highly resilient at rebuilding creature boards and pivoting to backup commanders like Chatterfang, Squirrel General, the deck relies heavily on combat connections and lacks stack-based interaction.
