Deck overview

This deck is a heavy-hitting, big-mana Gruul Stompy strategy helmed by the partner pairing of Alena, Kessig Trapper and Gilanra, Caller of Wirewood. The primary game plan revolves around ramping early with Gilanra and other mana dorks, then deploying massive creatures with mana value 6 or greater to trigger Gilanra's card draw. Once a high-power creature enters the battlefield, Alena can be tapped to generate an explosive amount of red mana, allowing the deck to chain multiple huge threats in a single turn. The deck wins almost exclusively through overwhelming combat damage, utilizing extra combat phases from Moraug, Fury of Akoum and Full Throttle, or massive board-wide buffs from End-Raze Forerunners and Thunderfoot Baloth. With an incredibly high average mana value, the deck relies heavily on its commanders and cost-reducers to function, aiming to crush opponents under the sheer weight and value of its colossal threats.
