Format: Commander

Commander: Balefang the Unslayable

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Balefang the Unslayable is a mono-red goad-and-steal commander. The primary plan is to create goaded Baneslayer tokens for opponents, force the table to attack itself, and turn off lifegain while you build treasures. Secondary paths use copy spells such as Devastating Onslaught and Orthion, Hero of Lavabrink to multiply Balefang or Terror of the Peaks triggers, and finish with Insurrection or Mob Rule. Balefang's flying, trample, and protection from Angels and Archons make him a solid beater, but his actual role is the Baneslayer generator and lifegain lock. The commander is single-faced; there is no hidden commander.
