Deck overview

This deck is an Esper spellslinger control and life-drain deck commanded by Y'shtola, Night's Blessed. The strategy leverages noncreature spells with mana value 3 or greater to repeatedly trigger Y'shtola, burning all opponents for 2 damage and gaining 2 life per cast while drawing extra cards on end steps. The deck accelerates in the early turns with efficient mana rocks, lands Y'shtola on Turn 3, and transitions into massive card advantage engines through Curiosity, Rhystic Study, and The One Ring. From Turn 5 onwards, damage doublers like Bloodletter of Aclazotz and trigger enhancers like Delney, Streetwise Lookout scale spell casts into lethal table-wide burn. A dense suite of free counterspells, spot removal, and phasing effects protects the board while Teferi, Time Raveler and Sheoldred, the Apocalypse tax opposing responses. The deck reliably closes games on Turn 6 through multiplied drain triggers, storm lines with Aetherflux Reservoir, or a devastating Torment of Hailfire.
