Deck overview

Kaalia of the Vast commands an aggressive Mardu deck engineered to cheat colossal Angels, Demons, and Dragons directly onto the battlefield tapped and attacking on Turn 4. Bypassing steep mana costs allows the deck to establish sudden, overpowering board presence. Signature payoffs like Master of Cruelties, Gisela, Blade of Goldnight, Avacyn, Angel of Hope, and Utvara Hellkite turn individual attack triggers into instant player eliminations or resilient boards. The deck relies on efficient equipment and protective spells like Lightning Greaves, Swiftfoot Boots, Mother of Runes, and Teferi's Protection to keep Kaalia alive through vulnerable pre-combat windows. Premium low-cost removal spells, including Swords to Plowshares and Chaos Warp, clear away blockers and opposing threats. While heavily dependent on resolving its commander, strong reanimation backups and top-end flyers allow the deck to remain dangerous throughout the midgame.
