Deck overview

Vren, the Relentless is a Dimir rat-tribal control deck that turns every opponent creature death into exiled cards and then into a growing swarm of Rat tokens. The primary plan is to establish Vren, protect him with counterspells and edict effects, and use sacrifice outlets and board wipes to force repeated creature deaths. The deck also runs a strong sacrifice-and-drain package with Ayara, Braids, Mirkwood Bats, and Psychosis Crawler as a secondary path. Marrow-Gnawer and Ogre Slumlord provide token multiplication and evasion. The deck is built around Vren's end-step token generation, with the commander as the central engine; without him, the deck still has a functional sacrifice-control game but loses its primary win condition.
