Deck overview

This deck is an Izzet combo and tempo strategy helmed by Malcolm, Keen-Eyed Navigator and Breeches, Brazen Plunderer. Its primary win condition exploits Malcolm's ability to generate Treasures whenever a Pirate deals damage to opponents. By granting the Pirate creature type to artifact-damage pingers such as Reckless Fireweaver, Ingenious Artillerist, or Sunshot Militia using cheap type-modifying spells like Trickery Charm and Blades of Velis Vel, the deck forms a self-sustaining loop that deals lethal direct damage to the entire table on Turn 4. Functional redundancy across 6 pingers, 8 type modifiers, and multiple transmute tutors ensures consistent combo assembly. In slower games, Breeches provides card advantage by exiling opponents' libraries while combat auras like Curiosity draw cards. A lean suite of 1- and 2-mana counterspells and Siren Stormtamer protects the combo turn, giving the deck a resilient, compact path to victory.
