Deck overview

This deck is an optimized Dimir cheat and control strategy commanded by Rona, Herald of Invasion. The central game plan revolves around transforming Rona into Rona, Tolarian Obliterator and exploiting her damage trigger to cast high-mana permanents for free. By combining Rona with damage pingers like Hermetic Study and Prodigal Sorcerer alongside indestructible equipment such as Mithril Coat and Darksteel Plate, the pilot repeatedly damages Rona to deploy format-warping threats including Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur, Omniscience, and Consecrated Sphinx as early as Turn 5. The deck maintains control using board-wide damage engines like Pestilence and Plague Spitter, which clear opposing utility creatures while triggering Rona's cheat ability. Although the list lacks traditional countermagic and is susceptible to instant-speed exile removal, its extreme redundancy in enablers, robust command-zone card selection, and devastating top-end payoffs create an explosive and resilient midrange engine capable of closing games swiftly.
