Deck overview

This Ghyrson Starn, Kelermorph deck is a high-power Izzet spellslinger and storm list designed for competitive multiplayer pods. It leverages Ghyrson's ability to turn 1-damage pings into 3-damage bursts, transforming low-cost creatures like Coruscation Mage and Vivi Ornitier into deadly table-wide clocks. Supported by premier fast mana, deep cantrips, and elite card engines like Rhystic Study and Archmage Emeritus, the deck builds velocity rapidly. Its primary win paths center on explosive Turn 4 turns using Underworld Breach with Brain Freeze or chaining cheap spells alongside mana engines like Birgi, God of Storytelling and Storm-Kiln Artist. A world-class suite of free countermagic (Force of Will, Fierce Guardianship, Deflecting Swat) protects its combo execution while keeping opposing fast combos in check. Even without its commander, the list pivots seamlessly into independent game-ending lines with Niv-Mizzet, Parun or Hullbreaker Horror.
