Deck overview

This deck is a high-synergy Simic Merfolk tribal strategy led by Hakbal of the Surging Soul. The game plan revolves around developing low-cost Merfolk during the opening turns and resolving Hakbal on Turn 4 to immediately trigger mass explore triggers. This engine filters draws, accelerates land deployment, and rapidly stacks +1/+1 counters onto the entire board. As the creature swarm grows, cards like Branching Evolution and Topography Tracker supercharge the counter growth, while evasive enablers like Herald of Secret Streams and Master of the Pearl Trident ensure attacks bypass opposing blockers. The deck defends its board with efficient interaction, ward taxes, and premier protection spells like Ripples of Potential and Inspiring Call. It reliably threatens lethal combat damage across the table by Turn 6 or 7.
