Smaug - WIP by user3560402

Format: Commander

Commander: Smaug the Magnificent

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Smaug the Magnificent heads a mono-red Treasure and artifact aggro deck that turns Treasure count into direct damage and combat pressure. The primary plan is to generate Treasures every upkeep with Smaug and 18 other Treasure sources, then attack with hasty Smaug to burn any target for damage equal to Treasures, amplified by Solphim, Mayhem Dominus and Roaming Throne. Secondary paths use Dragon payoffs like Ancient Copper Dragon, Cavern-Hoard Dragon and Goldspan Dragon to burst Treasures on combat damage, and extra combats from Karlach, Fury of Avernus and Seize the Day to double triggers. Smaug is the main payoff and removal piece. Magda, Brazen Outlaw acts as hidden commander, making Treasures from tapped Dwarves and tutoring Dragons or artifacts.
