Deck overview

This deck pilots Aragorn, the Uniter at the head of a 'Secret Mono-Blue' spellslinger shell designed around retro text-altering magic. While Aragorn requires four colors to cast, the 99 is composed almost entirely of blue cards. By casting cards like Mind Bend, Sleight of Mind, Glamerdye, or Swirl the Mists, the deck alters Aragorn's color-trigger text—replacing 'red' or 'white' with 'blue'. Once modified, every cheap blue cantrip, bounce spell, and utility creature triggers Aragorn's 3-damage burn ability or generates 1/1 Human Soldier tokens. Blue scrying from Aragorn fuels powerful draw engines like Matoya, Archon Elder, while convoke spells and Distant Melody draw massive bursts of cards off the token army. To protect this investment, the list relies heavily on phasing effects such as March of Swirling Mist and Vanishing, which dodge sweepers and removal without wiping Aragorn's indefinite text changes.
