Format: Commander

Commander: The Infamous Cruelclaw

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

This Rakdos deck is helmed by The Infamous Cruelclaw, a 3-drop menace creature that exiles cards on combat damage and allows casting them by discarding a card. The primary game plan is to connect with Cruelclaw as early as possible, cheating out expensive haymakers like Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger or Rise of the Eldrazi for the cost of a single discard. The deck s primary win condition is the infinite life drain combo of Sanguine Bond + Exquisite Blood, but it also functions as a value-driven beatdown deck using a dense suite of high-CMC dragons, demons, and Eldrazi, many with powerful ETB or attack triggers. The commander is essential to the deck s speed and card advantage; without it, the deck is a clunky pile of uncastable bombs. Key secondary payoffs include Sunbird s Invocation, Hit the Mother Lode, and Helm of the Host for copying legendary creatures.
