Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black big mana and attrition strategy that leverages mana doublers, rituals, and incremental drain engines to overwhelm opponents. Commander Sheoldred // The True Scriptures serves as a midgame value and removal piece, applying early board pressure with edict effects before flipping into a devastating three-chapter Saga. The deck accelerates using mana rocks, cost reducers like Jet Medallion, and land doublers including Crypt Ghast and Cabal Coffers. This vast mana pool fuels massive card draw engines such as Peer into the Abyss and Bolas's Citadel, alongside recurring card advantage from Phyrexian Arena and Unholy Annex // Ritual Chamber. The primary win condition centers on resolving decisive payoffs like Peer into the Abyss to draw into game-ending life drain through Exsanguinate, Gray Merchant of Asphodel, or the Exquisite Blood and Sanguine Bond combo. While strong at creature removal and attrition, the deck lacks mass board wipes and artifact interaction.
