Deck overview

This deck is a Jund midrange beatdown strategy centered around Maarika, Brutal Gladiator. The deck ramps in the early turns to deploy Maarika by turn 4. Once on the battlefield, Maarika leverages its 'must be blocked' clause, inherent turn-phase indestructibility, and a dense suite of fight and bite spells to pick off opposing creatures while triggering excess damage. Each instance of excess damage forces the victim to sacrifice a noncreature, nonland permanent, steadily stripping opponents of their mana rocks, value enchantments, and planeswalkers. Win conditions focus on commander damage and high-power combat boosts such as Mr. Orfeo, the Boulder, Temur Battle Rage, and Hard-Won Jitte. While the deck excels at grinding down creature boards and breaking parity on permanent trades, it lacks instant-speed stack interaction and depends heavily on combat connectivity.
