Deck overview

This deck is an optimized mono-black control and resource-denial strategy commanded by Tergrid, God of Fright // Tergrid's Lantern. The game plan focuses on accelerating into Tergrid on Turn 4 and immediately resolving symmetric discard or sacrifice spells, such as Dark Deal, Plaguecrafter, or Smallpox. Tergrid breaks parity by stealing every nontoken permanent card discarded or sacrificed by opponents, turning symmetric attrition into an overwhelming one-sided board state. Supported by engines like Waste Not and Geth's Grimoire, the deck rapidly empties opposing hands while expanding its own mana and creature base. The endgame is secured through combat with stolen boards, repeated life drain via Tinybones, Trinket Thief, or a massive Torment of Hailfire powered by Cabal Coffers. While vulnerable to instant removal targeting Tergrid and replacement graveyard hate, the deck exerts crushing hand and board oppression that systematically locks out opponents.
