Enthusiastic Excavation by arcaderob

Format: Commander

Commander: Passionate Archaeologist and Volo, Itinerant Scholar

Bracket: 2

Deck overview

Volo, Itinerant Scholar and Background Passionate Archaeologist form an exile-cast burn engine; the Background is the hidden commander that turns Volo into a damage source. Volo creates a hexproof Journal, whose high draw counts are converted by Eruth, Tormented Prophet into two playable exiled cards per draw. Casting those spells from exile turns on Passionate Archaeologist, Nalfeshnee, Keeper of Secrets, Nico Minoru, and Unstable Amulet. The deck wants to note as many creature types as possible, then spend a turn activating the Journal, chaining impulse effects, and copying finishers such as Alrund's Epiphany and Delayed Blast Fireball. Nassari's upkeep-exile ability is a secondary value line rather than the primary plan.
